Workshops

Beginning Craft of Poetry Class
with Cara Chamberlain

Time: Mondays in June (3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th), 5:30-6:30 pm

Location: This House of Books

Instructor: Cara Chamberlain

Tuition: $15/class, $50/four classes (cash or check)

Have you ever wondered how to end a line of poetry and begin another? Do you want to know how to make the most of rhyme? Is meter a complete black hole of mystery where you get hopelessly lost? Do you want to explore the difference between metaphor and symbol?

This studio class will get you writing. It will also answer some of the basic questions poets often come up against. Each class will feature a particular problem in poetry writing and then give you the chance to practice what you’ve learned. Time permitting, there’ll be a chance to share your work and receive feedback from peers. The instructor will also be happy to provide feedback via email.

Whether it’s a rainy June or a hot one, what better way to spend an hour than digging deeper into poetry and writing something you’ll be proud of?
